Zionist Pressure Fails to Stop Overcoming Zionism Book

Joel Kovel, author of Overcoming Zionism, said, "What we don't have is any kind of real debate on this subject in our country at this time ... basically these Zionist repression groups have had pretty much a free hand ... that's why I wrote the book. I mean, I wanted to -- I disregarded all the taboos, that you're not supposed to talk about Israel in any depth in this country." (see video) Joel Kovel, author of Overcoming Zionism, talks with Amy Goodman about Zionist pressure which caused University of Michigan Press to drop his book from distribution.

Got a taste I see of the right wing Zionist cabal on Daily Kos. They come at you in teams, as you may have noticed, and are there within a few moments that you post a diary. The game is called GIYUS. Search the term and you will learn.

But by no means allow them to censor your free speech.

  2. Unreal. But there was a response that pointed out that those games are meant to deflect away from discussing the topic. "Zionism is real ideology and practice. It isn't just a code-word for "the Jews" but refers to a particular political project of establishing and maintaining a Jewish state on lands inhabited by another people through a process of conquest and colonization/settlement. That project, and not just the particular policies that emanate from that state, is a legitimate object of criticism and much of the reaction to this diary is intended to use ridicule to silence such criticism."

But for some reason the guy wrote, "I will gladly stipulate that this diary didn't do what it needed to."
