UCLA Professor warned about Israel views

UCLA Professor warned about Israel views

(another good article by )

"This is far from new. The widespread attempt in the U.S. to suppress and even sanction criticisms of Israel has long extended to academia. Neocons succeeded in blocking a tenure offer for Michigan Professor Juan Cole from Yale based on their dislike of his political positions on Israel. Alan Dershowitz did the same thing, for the same reasons, to Israel critic Norman Finkelstein at DePaul University. Professors at Columbia, mostly Arab, have long been accused of anti-Semitism, and have even been the subject of formal complaints, for their views on Israel. The UCLA complaint goes a bit beyond those incidents because it seeks to penalize a Professor for nothing more than a link on his website and out-of-classroom advocacy." -  UCLA Professor warned about Israel views

and his update links to an important statement by Paul Krugman ("explains why he — Krugman — almost never writes about Israel:"): "I have other battles to fight, and to say anything to that effect is to bring yourself under intense attack from organized groups that try to make any criticism of Israeli policies tantamount to anti-Semitism."

"There is no new policy"

Shai,

You claim "he never really bothers to clarify that Iran will not be the one doing the 'wiping'" but that isn't true. He has made it clear but mainstream media has suppressed his solution: democracy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZVDuZbk3eg&list=PL5882411FB1FA928E&feature=plpp_play_all

in addition to that: "There is no new policy," Ahmadinejad said. "They created a lot of hue and cry over that." Ahmadinejad added, "It is clear what we say: Let the Palestinians participate in free elections and they will say what they want."

"It is not amazing at all, the pick-and-choose approach of highlighting the misinterpreted remarks of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in October and ignoring this month's remarks by Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, that 'We have no problem with the world. We are not a threat whatsoever to the world, and the world knows it. We will never start a war. We have no intention of going to war with any state.'"
